Rae's Boiling Point
Everyone in Hellbender High knew who Rae Wilkinson was. She was overweight, had braces on her teeth, long thin dark hair and dark circles under her eyes. In meaner words: Fat. Ugly. Outcast. They knew it, and she knew it too. And for the first three years, she did nothing about it. She told no one, she tried rolling with the punches and just ending up crying alone. She went home with spitballs in her hair and would come to school the next morning to see ‘Rae W. is a PIG’ scrawled on the bathroom stalls in Sharpie. And she still did nothing. She was a senior now, and the prom was coming up. Nobody asked Rae to go. She didn’t plan on going anyway.
That was before she heard his voice.
He never told her his name, he just spoke to her in a voice so harsh and sharp yet so soft.
“Rae…you belong with us, child. You are one of us. ”
She was terrified at first, thinking she was going insane. The voice still spoke to her.
“It’s your time, child. It’s your time to make them pay. Hurt them as they hurt you. You’ll know what to do.”
And she did. She ordered prom tickets even though she didn’t have a date. Her parents were thrilled that she was going, paying for a dress and everything. They took a lot of pictures. It was a good thing, for this was the last night they would ever see Rae again. They dropped her off at the school, and said goodbye for the last time. But they didn’t know that.
Due to budget cuts, the prom was held in the gym. Girls in beautiful dresses danced with their dates in tuxes, laughing loud with their friends and having the time of their lives. It was perfect, Rae would ruin the best night of their life as the price for her pain. The voice was a genius. Rae walked down the hall to the gym, the voice coaching her on. As she approached the doors, the voice began to sing to her.
You've been pushed around
until you mumble
Beaten to the ground
but you won't crumble
until you mumble
Beaten to the ground
but you won't crumble
She pushed the doors open with a loud bang. Everyone turned to look at her. There stood Rae, in a long black dress. But she was different. She almost looked…pretty. As she walked into the middle of the gym, several teens began to take notice of the eerie red glow in her eyes. The voices continued in her head as she looked around at her tormentors.
They strike you dumb
They bring you down
They keep you on the losing end
They bring you down
They keep you on the losing end
Suddenly, the lights flashed on and off. The doors of the gym locked shut. The music stopped. The fun was over now, people were beginning to panic, eyes fixed on Rae. She tilted her head back, and laughed. It wasn’t her laugh. It was unnatural, demonic, and insane. She spun around once, arms outstretched, like an excited child. Then she became serious again. She bent down, and took out the big kitchen knife she’d strapped to her leg under her dress. She stood up straight again, the singing in her head goading her on.
They tell you right is wrong
Your high is low
Give 'em hell
Your high is low
Give 'em hell
Rae lunged forward at the first person she saw. The captain of the football team…leader of the jocks. She moved unnaturally fast, ramming the knife into his temple. He slumped over at his girlfriend’s feet, dead. She would’ve screamed, but Rae had already slit her throat.
Kick up a row
We're the Supermonstars
We chant the anthem of the phantoms
Deal out the blows
Like a Supermonstar
We are humble to none
We're the Supermonstars
We chant the anthem of the phantoms
Deal out the blows
Like a Supermonstar
We are humble to none
Teenagers ran and screamed, pounding the doors. Everyone, everyone who had tormented Rae was going to die. She laughed and laughed and killed and killed, the gym floors became slippery with blood.
They can't make you out
That makes you bogus
They think they know
What we're about
But they just don't know us
That makes you bogus
They think they know
What we're about
But they just don't know us
She stood before one of her worse tormentors, some nasty bimbo with a fake tan. She was sobbing and wailing, snot coming out of her nose, a lot of tears, the whole shebang. Rae smirked at her, and grabbed a fistful of her hair.
“Who’s crying now?” She asked as she rammed the knife into her jugular. She dropped her and left her to bleed to death.
They strike you dumb
They bring you down
They keep you on the losing end
They tell you right is wrong
Your high is low
Give 'em hell
They bring you down
They keep you on the losing end
They tell you right is wrong
Your high is low
Give 'em hell
A few brave boys tried to tackle her and get the knife away from her. No such luck. The voice gave her power and made her stronger. Those that tried to fight back ended up dead at her feet.

Only a few were left. Those rare, select few that had done nothing. The voice that gave her strength knew who they were, and reminded her they were to live. After all, someone had to pass this story onto others. They cowered amidst the chaos, unable to believe they’d been spared, and horrified at the death surrounding them.

Rae stood in the center of it all, splattered with blood. The knife slipped from her red-stained fingers and fell to the floor with a clatter. She smiled, an eerie unnatural smile, that red glow still lingered in her eyes.

As the voice died down…Rae stood awhile in silence. Those who were spared didn’t dare move or say anything. The ground began to shake, the lights flickered on and off once again. Rae didn’t move.
All of a sudden there was an explosion of flames and black smoke. Just a few feet behind Rae stood a great monster. He had red eyes, horns, and long fingers with black nails. He was the unholy lord of tremors, the biomechanic man.
He was Lordi.
”Child.” He growled. Rae turned around slowly, the red glow disappeared from her eyes. They were brown again.
“Master…” She sighed.
He extended a hand towards her. “Come with me, to your true home.”
Rae walked slowly towards him, one hand outstretched. She reached him, and as that small hand touched his palm, he curled his long fingers around it. She looked over her shoulder, at the survivors of the massacre. Her face grew deathly pale, the circles under her eyes darkened, and small stitches formed across her face. She looked at Lordi once more. He pulled her to him, and let out a roar that blew out the lights. He draped his cape over her and in another explosion of fire and smoke…
They were gone.
